It’s time for the November StrideBox review– this month’s box abounds with good stuff that’s just right for autumn. And the nice folks at Stridebox are giving my readers two discount codes. Use them when you check out.

In case you didn’t know, StrideBox is a subscription box for runners. For $15 a month, you get a sampling of the latest gadgets, gizmos and nutrition for runners. The value almost always exceeds the price, as it does this month. It’s a great way to try out new products, and it makes a great holiday gift for the runner in your life – or for yourself.

Here are the contents of the Novmber 2017 box:

Skratch Bar
Skratch Bar – vegan and NON GMO

In September, I gave Skratch powder recovery mix a meh review because their product contained skim milk powder. But I adore this month’s bar. Made of chocolate chips and almonds (yummers), it is vegan, contains all natural ingredients and is non-GMO. What’s not to love?

RunShield
RunShield

Chafing is bad. Sunburn is bad. This RunSheild Anti-Chafing Cream combines sun and chafing protection into one handy cream, made from naturally derived and pronounceable ingredients. Good stuff. Multi-function products like this save busy runners time and money. Keep ’em coming!

Hi Fibar Granola
Hi Fibar Granola

Who doesn’t love granola? It’s the ultimate runner-friendly food to enjoy witt non-dairy milk, as a yogurt topper or just eaten straight out of the bag. Pumpkin-Spice Orange is such a lovely, autumnal flavor. Plus it includes an extra helping of fiber, thanks to inulin to help you go-go-go. (How’s that for a double entendre?)

Bzzzz Beans
Bzzzz Beans

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you know that caffeine enhances athletic performance. Some chocolate-covered espresso beans taste gnarly, but these Bzzzz Beans are a perfect balance of sweet dark chocolate and deep-roasted coffee. They’re perfect for race day when you want the legal, natural  performance-enhancing effects of caffeine but you don’t want to slug down a few cups of coffee and deal with the resulting tidal wave stomach (glug-glug-glug) while you are running fast. I am naturally caffeinated but I love the taste and buzz these chocolate-covered espresso beans. They come in a resealable bag (because you can really eat only one or two before bouncing off the walls). My only complaint was that the bag was impossible to open.

Bumbleroot hydration
Bumbleroot hydration

This all-natural mix sounds divine – with a coconut water base combined with the superfood powers of baobab, turmeric and ginger, which happen to all be organic. Wish this came in a summer box when I was marathon training, so I’ll save it for warmer weather. Pronounceable ingredients.

Stridebox sticker
Stridebox sticker

This month’s sticker alludes to the law of attraction.I usually put the motivational stickers on my vision board.  I am not sure that you can attract negativity, but I do know from personal experience that positive thinking begets positivity. Try it!

STRIDEBOX Safety light
STRIDEBOX LED Safety light

Winter means fewer hours of lightness. This tiny weightless blinking safety light will help ensure that drivers see you. Clip it on your shoe or your gear. This little sucker sure throws out a lot of light. See video below.

My favorites this month are the Bzzz Beans and the Clip-on Safety Light.

Totals

This value of this month’s Stridebox is $15.93, exceeding the $15 subscription price by 93 cents. The value is usually much higher, but you  are definitely getting more than your money’s worth.

  • Skratchl Bar: $2.65
  • RunShield Anti-Chafing Cream and Sunscreen: $0.50*
  • Bumbleroot Hydration Drink: $3.50
  • Hi Fibar Granola: $2
  • Bzzz Beans: $1.33
  • Clip-on LED Safety Light: $5.95

Total value: $15.93

*Sample did not have size printed on the label so I made my best guess.

  1. I would not be able to benefit from joint sunscreen and anti-chafing (though I suppose it would be nice to have only one thing to apply) since I seem to only chafe where the sun don’t shine — mostly around my bra clasp or inner thighs, occasionally under my arms. Having a separate sunscreen to apply doesn’t seem that burdensome to me I guess.

    1. Haha! Good point, Carina. Same here for the most part, but I also chafe during marathons or very long runs where my arms hit my rib cage. Plus, lots of folks get thigh chafe. Happy holidays!
